Our Mission
For over 60 years the vascular graft space has been dominated by two materials - polyethylene terephthalate (PET) and expanded poly(tetrafluoroethylene) (ePTFE). Although these materials have saved countless lives, they do not integrate well with host tissue and remain in the patient’s body for the remainder of their lives. By leveraging decades of tissue-engineering research, we have re-designed vascular graft materials from first principles to create vascular prosthetics that match the mechanics of our vascular system, and transform over time into fully autologous conduits. Our first product, the deNovo1 AVG will mark the first step on our path towards pushing inferior materials out of the clinic.
Our Science
The foundational technology behind our grafts at Anova biomedical, Inc. comes from the pioneering work by Professor Yadong Wang at Cornell University. For the last twenty years, Professor Wang has evolved his biodegradable elastomer platform to create materials that are optimized for vascular engineering.
